Hi, I have lyme disease and have frequently been on plaquenil only in the summer as stronger drugs are used when I'm not in the sun and I've yet to experience this. But I do know that it is often used to prevent and treat malaria and that many drugs that deal with such things have a tendency to cause some crazy dreams. Plaquenil itself is an antibiotic and antibiotics itself do not seem following some experiments to do any good with treating lyme. But doctors found that cellular Ph the degree of acidity needs to be changed, meaning maximize or minimize the level of Ph, in order that antibiotic could work better. I've been diagnosed with Lyme disease, Q fever, rickettsia and I've been battling this for years. I have unbearable joint pain and syncopal episodes. I am a nurse. I have to say that the best I feel is on Plaquenil and doxycycline, with steroids occasionally. I have a flare.
