    Can plaquenil cause vertigo

I have been on it since April 06, but have mainly only been taking 200 mg a day instead of the 400 mg that was prescribed. The first Rheumy I saw said he was leaning towards diagnosing me with lupus (based on labs and symptoms over last few years), and put me on it to see if it helped.

Although they are uncommon, Plaquenil has side effects that may affect your eyes. Plaquenil and Your Eyes In some people, Plaquenil can cause a condition called hydroxychloroquine retinopathy, often referred to as bulls-eye maculopathy. From 165lbs over a year ago to 121lbs today. I have to use the bathroom over thrice the rate of normal people. Almost anything I eat causes my stomach to gurgle and bubble and cause cramps and pain and I can use my hand to "massage" the cramps and pain around and physically move it. So damn bizarre. Just feels so damn helpless sometimes. It is the most common cause of vertigo. Certain head movements, such as bending down or turning to the side while lying in bed, can trigger dizziness. BPPV episodes generally last only a few minutes The condition usually poses no dangers other than the risk of falling and does not require treatment.

I finally decided to just start it, and wow did I notice a difference in how I felt.. I was having trouble holding back tears when I saw the Rheum. Even though I was miserable, and SO tired and sore every day, I was hesitant to start it, since I've always had a sensitive nervous system when it comes to medication (my mother is the same way).

I was on plaquenil 400mg for about 9 months when the dizziness started. Felt like being on merry go round and can't get off. At any rate, my rheumy switched from generic brand to brand necessary plaquenil. Something unstable about the generic brand. It's been a few months now and the brand necessary is working fine. I was recently told by my internal medicine doctor, after years of cataloging symptoms, that she was going to begin treating me for Lupus. She started me on the generic version of Plaquenil at 200 mg. I have had a really hard time on this medicine. I have had extreme nausea, diarrhea, stomach cramps, and intense vertigo.
